What to do in Koh Samui ?

As Koh Samui is one of the major beach destinations in the world, it makes sense to spent some time on the beach ;-) However, there are many more things you can do, like exploring the island and the neighboring Anghtong National Marine park, rock climbing, shopping, water sports and so on. Below you find some examples of things you can do. This list is far from complete. Every week, tour operators and local entrepreneurs start something new. All tours on this page can be booked at Como Resort. In general, the tour company will also arrange transport from/to Como Resort.

Samui is an explorer's dream. It is just big enough to offer a wealth of diversity in landscape, vistas, flora and fauna, yet small enough to seek adventure in its many out-of-the-way places, while hardly ever losing sight of sea. This video some of the ways you can do this.

Sailing is becoming increasingly popular. Koh Samui island has excellent weather conditions for sailing — a good all-year-round breeze that is a solid northeasterly between December and April, and a more challenging strong westerly with the occasional violent gust between May and November. Craft available for a day on the ocean waves include yachts, catamarans and more modest windsurf boards.

Koh Samui has plenty of coconut trees. All over the islands is full of coconut tree. In the past coconuts were the main industry of Koh Samui. And of course, an animal who works with coconut very well is monkeys. Local people has been trained monkeys to help them in coconut plantations and now it is also an attraction for tourists who visit Samui.

Visiting the Samui Crocodile Farm beside the airport is both interesting and entertaining. On display are Siam crocodiles, saltwater crocodiles, caimans, lizards, snakes, monkeys and more.

Various forms of kickboxing have long been practiced throughout Southeast Asia. As with most countries in the region, Thai culture is highly influenced by ancient civilizations within Southeast Asia.

Vivien Tan takes you through the quaint fisherman's village of Boh Phut, on Thailand's resort island of Koh Samui (Please note : these images are a couple of years old, unfortunately Bophut is discovered by the big hotel chains and is not so calm anymore, however Fisherman's village remains our favorite spot for a romantic dinner.)

And of course...the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan. Como Resort is approx. 7 minutes away from where the boats leave. All in tickets can be booked here, and the friendly organizers will bring you back to the resort in the morning for a well deserved rest.

The body of Samui's most famous mummified monk, Loung Pordaeng, is on display here in a specially constructed building. When he died more than 20 years ago, he was sitting in a meditation position. He is still in that same position and his body shows few signs of any major decay. Wat Khunaram is on the 4169 ring-road between the Na Muang waterfalls and Hua Thanon.

Thai buffalo fighting is a much more placid affair than the usual sort of Spanish bullfighting that's full of passion and drama and the bulls end up being killed. In fact, Thai buffalo fighting is the bovine-world's equivalent of arm wrestling - with two male water buffalos locking horns and pushing and snorting until one gets bored and wanders away! But it's still a hugely popular event and usually occurs at special festivals such as New Year's Day and the Thai New Year (Songkran)

Jungle Trip by Elephant, The mighty elephant is Thailand's national animal – a symbol of royalty and strength. Samui has tropical rain forest in its centre and to travel through this verdant lushness on elephant back is to truly experience Thailand at its most natural. Pass exotic fauna and flora, stop at refreshing waterfalls along the way- discover Samui in the most regal way possible.
